Wells was born in 1938 and began painting in 1957. He sold his paintings around the Cocoa Beach, Florida, area. “We didn’t congregate,” Wells told a reporter for the Tampa Tribune. “We were just trying to put food on the table.” Now a minister, he lives in Huntingdon, Tennessee, with his wife, Clezell. He continues to paint and occasionally shows his artwork.
